The five-day trip between Lhasa and Namtso is a classic route that many tourists with limited time opt for when they visit Tibet. This route takes you from Lhasa to Namtso and back to Lhasa. It features many of Tibet's most iconic attractions, such as the dzong fortress Potala Palace; Jokhang Temple and its surrounding Barkhor Street; Sera Monastery of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism; as well as Lake Namtso. Essentially, this tour encompasses not only Tibetan culture, religion and architecture, but also completes it with the famous Tibetan landscape of Namtso Lake.
Seven Days: Lhasa, Nyingchi and Ganden Monastery
For a more natural photography tour, you can travel between Lhasa and Nyingchi, nicknamed Switzerland in Tibet. This tour features Basum Tso Lake and Lulang Forest. You can take photos of Tibetan natural landscapes like alpine sceneries, wild forests, giant glaciers and vast clear lakes. This tour also includes a trip to Ganden Monastery, a monastery of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism founded in 1409.
Nine Days: Lhasa, Namtso Lake, Shigatse and Mount Everest
